Scripture & Catechism Memory

October

Catechism Questions

Q10.    How did God create man?
A10.    God created man male and female, after his own image, in knowledge, righteousness, and holiness, with dominion over the creatures.

Scripture:

Genesis 1: 26a;27
 Then God said, "Let us make man in our image, in our likeness...So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.
Psalm 42:8
"By day the Lord directs his love, at nighth is song is with me-- a prayer to the God of my life."

A Hymn for Reflection

"Before Jehovah's Awesome Throne"

from Psalm 100
Isaac Watts                    Frederick M.A. Venua
Before Jehovah's awesome throne, all nations, bow with sacred joy;
 know that the Lord is God alone, he can create, and he destroy --
he can create, and he destroy.
His sovereign pow'r, without our aid, made us of dust and formed us men;
and when like wand'ring sheep we strayed, he brought us to his fold again--
he brought us to his fold again.
We are his people, we his care, our souls and all our mortal frame;
what lasting honors shall we rear, almight Maker, to your name?--
Almighty Maker, to your name?
We'll crowd your gates with thankful songs, high as the heav'ns our voices raise;
and earth, with her ten thousand tongues, shall fill your courts with sounding praise--
shall fill your courts with sounding praise.
Wide as the world is your command, vast as eternity your love;
firm as a rock your truth must stand, when rolling years shall cease to move--
when rolling years shall cease to move.
